About me

My name is Lucy Setian.

I'm Armenian, born in Bulgaria, but perceive myself as a cosmopolitan. I'm a Computer Engineer from the German faculty program of TU-Sofia and TU-Karlsruhe, currently pursuing a degree in Communication Sciences - New Media and Society in Europe at VUB-Brussels. I’ve been working in media and ICT field for 5 years. My interests are primarily in the digital area. Since February 2011 I'm a proud team member of the TCS Digital World's team in Brussels working as a business development manager on EU level. I’m fluent in 4 languages (and fighting to learn properly 2 more).

I began my career as a journalist. In 2009 I won the award for most influential ecoblogger in Europe in the competition of the European Journalism Centre “Th!nk About It - Climate Change”. Afterwards I got a special prize from the European Commission’s initiative FightClimateChange.eu. The site for ecology and vegetarianism EcoVege.org chose me for the 1st person in Bulgaria, to whom it awarded the prize “Eco consciousness” in February 2010. In the same year I received the special award of Gorichka.bg in the green contest of the media group NetInfo. During the communications’ forum SWIM Digital Seminar 2010 in Zaragoza, Spain the project of my team received first place for the best business model of an online platform.

I was elected by the largest German Foundation Robert Bosch for the only (and youngest of all 16 participants) trainee from Bulgaria in the "Media - Mediators between nations” 2010 program, annually held for 3 months in Berlin. I’m engaged actively with the green lobby and the sustainable development. I supported the digital platform Future Challenges, set up by the German foundation Bertelsmann. I’ve been an author of the Bulgarian daily newspaper "24 hours" and the websites “24 Hours Online” and “Trud Online”. I work as a communications’ consultant for several companies and organizations and I’m the creator of the cross-media ArmenGenocide, which covers the topic of the recognition of the genocide over the Armenian people. In 2008 I wrote the travel novel “Beyond the Armenian Eyes”, which you can find as an e-book in Bulgarian and English. The last project, on which I have been working before I've joined TCS Digital World, was the Forum on Green Entrepreneurship and more particularly the Co-Creation Workshop in December 2010, organized by Generation Europe Foundation in Brussels.

I’m engaged in the business development in the field of ICT and media. That includes the conceptual framework and strategic directions, sales, lead generation, development of new product/services strategies and marketing campaigns, EU ICT policies and more. The creation of strategies for sustainable development of brands and businesses is also in my competency.

I feel best on the road, believe in the digital era, but still prefer to read books on paper and to go on offline parties. Writing will always remain a key part of my life, as I recently discovered the photography as a hobby. I hope, here I can share at least a small part of all this colorful mixture called life.
